The Mayo Clinic says no.


The only type of herpes that I know of that can kill some one is enchephilitis. Herpes zooster is the virus that causes chicken pox and shingles.

according to another answer on answer.com, i think yes they can be fatal. but i am not totally sure. i have the same question for a report I'm doing on chicken pox and shingles. sorry!

Chickenpox rarely can be deadly. It is most dangerous to adolescents and adults, as well as those with severe immunocompromise, but may of the deaths occur in previously healthy people. Shingles deaths are even more rare, and occur only in those with severe immunocompromise.

no shingles is a short lived virus that occurs years or months after getting chicken pox. it is known as a late symptom of chickenpox it usually goes away with proper medical treatment within the last 3 weeks or less

only towards elderly people but normal aged adults and kids it can easily by treated and is not dangerous but if you don't treat it may spread to the eyes and damage eyesight.
