It can be in some rare cases, although a normal healthy adult has nothing to worry about. Young children, people with weakened immune systems, and the elderly are much more likely to die from strep throat.

Although most cases of Group A Beta Hemolytic Strep throat goes away by its own without antibiotics, you can uncommonly develop complications like abscess that can cause more serious illness. If you are in the right age group, usually between 3 and 30ys old, strep throat is usually treated for the purposes of preventing Rheumatic Fever. Rheumatic Fever, although quite rare these days, can be a very serious illness.

Nothing is impossible but, no your not very likely to die from strep throat. Just try to talk less maybe treat the sickness with medicine, get lots of sleep and you hopefully will feel better in a couple of days.

Yes strep throat is deadly, the infamous coughing fits can cause suffocation, killing a person in minutes. Hacking up excessive blood is extremely serious and should be consulted with a doctor.

Every year about 300,000 people die of rheumatic Heart disease after suffering for many years. Rheumatic heart disease is direct sequel of rheumatic fever. Rheumatic fever is direct sequel of strep throat.
