Yes it can be modified a number of ways. The most popular and best way is to get a rifle basix adjustable trigger that can drop your pull to 1-2 pounds. If you have a little extra time and like to tinker you can take out the 2 screw holding the action to the gun. Then take the 1 screw holding the trigger on. Make sure that you don't lose the little spring between the trigger and action. Then take the bottom locking pin out and pull the trigger out with the other spring between the trigger and sear. Find a ball point pin that has a lighter but longer spring and cut it so that is is slightly longer that the spring you took out. Put the ball point spring in place between the sear and the trigger and put everything back together. You should probably drop to around 4 pounds. Then if you have a little smithing experience polish a little off of the "catch" between the trigger and sear. Should drop you to around 2. Mine came from the factory at 8 and I did this to mine. It is alot better!

Another thing you can do is shim the sear. So that you take the slop out of the trigger sear contact. Also check out rimfire central and ask a few people there. They will try to talk you into a Savage, but don't listen to them the accu-trigger is junk. I own a Ruger,CZ,Savage, and Marlin. The Marlin is by far the most accurate of them all.
