yes! of course so! if you think there is something wrong with yer car go and get it checked! you don't want to break ne where and wait for some1 to pick you up and pay a large towing bill!
Computer (ECM) does a self test of components and has found a part that is out of the specified range and turns on the check engine light so that you get it checked out so that the problem doesn't get worse.
If a check engine light is appearing when the car starts then the ECU is receiving an alert from somewhere in the engine. The computer should receive a diagnostic test which will provide an answer as to why the check engine light appeared on the 1997 Honda Civic.
You need to test/replace the knock sensor. ireplaced it already.
If you have repaired the cause of the light, the computer has to run the appropriate test and pass three times to clear the light.
Simply turn on the ignition but do not attempt to start the engine. If the light bulb is good you will see the Check Engine light illuminate and stay on. If you do not see the Check Engine light, the bulb is defective or has been removed.
No, it will not.
If the light is on, you will need to have it reset, or wait for the computer to run the self test enough times to turn itself off.
There really isn't any way to test the oxygen sensor to see if it is good or bad. If your check engine light is on you can take it to Autozone and they will hook it up to computer and if the oxygen sensor is bad, the computer will detect it.
The computer has detected a fault with one of the electronic components and is warning you to run a diagnostic test.
Whether or not a car will pass inspection with the Check Engine light on is up to the state or county giving the test. As long as the car passes an emissions test, it should be fine.
First uf all, The computer has nothing to do with the 4x4 on this year truck. If your check engine light is on , Then there's a problem in the system wiyh the engine or transmission, Not the 4x4. You need to check the 4x4 Actuator on the front housing to see if it has power going to it when you ingauge the 4x4. Check it with a test light. If it lights up the test light, Then replace the actuator in the housing. If it don't. Then go to the top of the Transfur case and you will see a switch on it. Check it with a test light, With the 4x4 ingaged, if its hot there then replace that switch. Before you do anything check the 4x4 Fuse's in the fuse box with a test light.
