Tin is fairly resistant to tarnishing, rusting, oxidation, corrosion, whatever you want to call it. Tin (Sn, atomic #50) forms a thin layer of either stannous (SnO) or stannic (SnO2) oxide which prevents any further reaction. This makes tin fairly stable when used as a material for building.

Yes, it usually develops brownish spots. Iron does not tarnish just from being in contact with oxygen, but other chemicals are needed. One chemical that tarnishes iron is hydrochloric acid (2 HCl)

There are a few different things that could happen to tin if scratched. Tin could rust out or disintegrate for example.
