What are two ways that speciation occurs?
By sympatric and allopatric speciation. Sympatric speciation is when a new species arises in populations that overlap geographically. This one is rare and more common in plants than animals. Allopatric speciation is when a new species arises in populations that are separated geographically. This one is more common.

What kinds of populations are affected by genetic drift?
Genetic drift occurs in all finite populations. However the effects of drift are more pronounced in smaller populations than in large ones. Meanwhile, even though they are more present in smaller populations, the drifting is more likely to occur in larger populations because of the larger number of different genetic combinations present. Throughout evolution of populations, genetic drifting effects all types of population sizes, though it is more likely in larger populations but more present in smaller populations.

How are new spiecies created?
If two or more populations of a single species are separated geographically, whether by mountain ranges, oceans, deserts or even small valleys, they will, over many generations, change to become different from the other populations, assuming there is no physical contact between them. This is due to mutations, which occur every generation, being acted upon by the different environments the populations find themselves in.

How does speciation affect evolution?
What is geographic isolation and how does it affect speciation?
Geographic isolation refers to a situation where a species, or a population of a species, becomes separated by a physical barrier (a lake, ocean, mountains, etc.), allowing each group to diverge along separate evolutionary paths. The effect of geographic isolation is that the two populations are subjected to different selection pressures, since the conditions in the two areas will be different. So different alleles will be selected for, and genetic differences will gradually accumulate between, the populations. In time, enough genetic differences will occur so that the two populations will no longer interbreed. Then, by definition, they have become different species. More Information: Geographic isolation is the separation of two (or more) groups of organisms by a geographical feature eg. a river, mountain range, ocean, desert etc. It is the chief mechanism for allopatric speciation, still regarded by some as a theory.

When an initial stimulus produces a response that exaggerates stimulus called what mechanism?
Exaggerating the stimulus is also seen as amplifying the stimulus. This is seen in outer ear hair cells. The mechanism you refer to is probably a positive feedback mechanism: more of the stimulus causes more of the stimulus. This is in contrast to a negative feedback mechanism, whereby more stimulus results in processes that strive to attenuate (lessen) that stimulus.
