Can you accept communion if you don't go to confession catholics?

One does not have to attend church frequently in order to be absolved of their sins. We can worship practically anywhere, be it in our workshop, amongst nature in the forest, or sitting in the pew at church. Holy Communion is a time for reflection, a time to commune with God, and atone ourselves to doing better in the coming week. According to Canon Law and Church teaching, any Catholic may receive the sacraments if they have no grave sin on their soul. If you perform an examination of conscience and find that in time that has elapsed since your last confession that you have committed no grave sin against God, your neighbor, and have obeyed the laws of the Church, then you are encouraged to receive Holy Communion at Mass. Bear in mind, however, that if you have been missing Sundays, which are holy days of obligation, without grave reason, you have been amiss in your Christian duty and must go to confession before you may worthily receive of the sacraments. It is not a question of personal disposition and desire of what you can and can't do, you might still approach the sacrament, however, if you do so unworthily you commit sacrilege and make a mockery of the sacrament, seeking Communion with God when instead you are pushing Him away by not first reconciling yourself to Him through the proper channels He has provided through His Church. Going to confession regularly is also beneficial for the graces it bestows, strengthening the soul against sin and giving confidence for the spiritual combat and besides all this, what is said in the Confessional, stays in the Confessional and is forever gone from your soul. This is a beautiful thing. You should try to approach Confession with the same humility and gratitude as any other sacrament, and then perhaps it won't seem as intimidating or difficult as some people believe it to be.

If you have a mortal sin on your soul and have not yet been forgiven in the sacrament of penance, you may not receive communion. To do so would be a sacrilege (another mortal sin).
