Short answer is no. Now depending on where you are, it may be possible. It all comes down to when it happened. Were you a juvenile? Are your records sealed? How long has it been since you committed the felony, 10 years or more? Regardless of where you fall in, most departments aren't going to want to touch you with a felony on your record. The big ones are violent crimes and sexual crimes, you will not get a call back if they show up on your record. My best advise is to be upfront with whoever you are applying with, if it pops up on your background check it will look like you are lying. The only exception to this is if your records are sealed. In which case you are not required to disclose. Just make sure you can pass a polygraph.
Depends on the jurisdiction. Generally speaking, no. But, again, it depends on the jurisdiction (the city or county or state) in which the firefighter will be working. In places where a convicted felon might be allowed to become a firefighter, it is likely that many years must have passed since conviction and release from the supervision of either the court or the prison system; and the crime almost certainly could not have been violent in any way; or would have to have been one of the comparatively more minor of the possible felonies that one may commit in life. But, again, it just depends on where it is, and what are the local rules for such things.
It may because being a firefighter is a position of public trust.
You would have to put that information on your application and explain your situation tot them.
You are generally disqualified if you have a felony on your record. You might be able to get a job with the United States Forest Service as a wildland firefighter. If you don't have a felony, you could probably get hired anywhere if you do the work and show you've cleaned up your act.
In the UK a criminal record will not stop you becoming a firefighter (depending on the crime). Report to your local fire service that you wish to become a firefighter and ask whether your convictions will hinder your chances. the process will probebly take longer however it can be done.
Check with the state that you live in. Generally, public service positions require a clean record. A felony narrows your list of occupations significantly.
This can and will vary from different departments. Just check with an officer of the department or a member that's already been accepted if you know any.
