I've been HIV positive for over 20 years now. I'm also extremely bipolar with drug addiction issues to further complicate things. When I was first diagnosed, it was also common to prescribe a anti depressant at the same time a person was given a positive status. I have been on and off anti depressants, bipolar, and HIV meds for the last 15 years or so. I guess I've been living proof that the human body has the ability to adapt and survive quite a lot of what life can throw at you.

You can be treated to the point where the viral load is undetectable, but the antibodies will always remain and the HIV screening test will remain positive.
