By 'backgrounds', I presume you mean desktop wallpapers. To do this, navigate your web browser (Safari) to the image, right click it and choose 'Use Image as Desktop Picture'. The image will now be your desktop image.

∙ 15y agoIf you are talking about changing your desktop background, then yes you can. All you have to do is go to your System Preferences -> Desktop. From there you can choose from one of Apple's default backgrounds or one of the photos that you have imported to iPhoto.

∙ 13y agoright hand click the desktop and click on change desktop background the select from the list then hold down command Q once you have chosen the desired background. You will see the background change once you click on one.
