Yes! == == I usually go to places like Costco or SAM'S CLUB and get the roasted chickens and freeze them. I then use them up to 3 weeks after. I defrost them and heat up and are ready to eat. The sell by date is when you should use it if you aren't going to freeze it. Freezing theoretically keeps food edible forever until you defrost them. The only problem is that after time the taste quality diminishes.

∙ 14y agoThat would depend how far past the expiration, how it has been stored, the condition of the can and the quality of the broth.
The processor will only guarantee the product up to the date on the can - as long as it has not been abused.
If the can is in good shape, the broth is likely safe, but the flavor could have degraded. Using it would be up to you.

∙ 12y agoYou can still eat food if it is past the "best if used by" date. The best if used by date is just an estimation of when foods start to loose quality.
For moderate amounts of time past the best by date, a good way to determine if it's still edible is to look at it and smell it. If there is anything questionable about it, don't eat it.

The date on the broth is NOT an expiration date. There are only a very few foods with an expiration date. They are baby foods. The rest are "best by" or "use by" dates. The manufacturer is saying they "guarantee" maximum quality if consumed by that date. Nothing "magical" happens inside the package on the date on the outside.
