yes you can i called I'm getting mine done tomorrow and yes they use piercing guns but don't listen to people when they say you'll l get sick cause you wont.

A word from a professional body piercer:

Claire's Boutiques are not licensed to provide body piercing services, nor are they inspected to maintain public safety by the health board. The use of piercing guns to pierce anything other than ear lobes is a violation of federal health regulations covering the use of piercing guns.

If you allow them to pierce your ear cartilage with a piercing gun you are accepting all liability for any injuries you may sustain due to your request to have the piercing done. Bottom line if you contract anything due to cross contamination and the nonexistent knowledge of the person using the gun you are on your own.

Forget the ability to sue for injuries due to their stupidity and your own. Be smart see a professional body piercer working in a licensed facility with knowledge and experience not to mention a health inspection report posted on the wall.

While Claire's does perform helix (upper ear cartilage fold) piercings, they use a piercing gun. Guns basically shove a dull stud through your ear and are not suitable for cartilage piercings, or any piercing for that matter. I suggest you see a professional piercer who will use a needle. It's better for your ear.

Yes but PLEASE DONT GO THERE. Claire's uses guns and poor quality jewelry. Guns can't be cleaned like needles. Therefore, guns are filled with other people's blood, sweat, dirt, dust, and of course bacteria. Needles can be autoclaved just like surgical tools so they're less likely to lead to infection. The way that you care for the piercing makes a difference too. Guns also use a ton of force to shove a blunt stud through your ear. It pushes the back of the stud on too forcefully and as a result the back can be stuck on there or be too tight to allow for swelling. Proffessionals use needles. Peole at Claire's don't know anything about piercings or else they wouldn't be using guns. All that they have to do is read a booklet before they use a gun. Professional piercers take a class about blood-borne pathogens and have to go through an apprenticeship before they can get certified with the APP. Claire's jewelry is so poor that it actually breaksdown inside your ear. Go to a professional piercer and get it done with a gun.

Under the legal requirements of "informed consent", forcing anyone to have something done they have not consented to, nor understand the seriousness of the procedure would be considered a breach of the "informed consent" regulations and guidelines.

It would be in the eyes of the law and in all essence "assault" regardless of what the procedure is keeping in mind that it's not a life saving procedure and in fact an elective procedure ( one chooses to do this as apposed to needing to have it done ). When one doesn't have the choice, it's imposed on them without there consent, it is "assault". People need to understand that in this day and age of respecting others wishes, cultures and rights we can't impose our wishes on anyone who doesn't willingly want or wish to take part in our plan.

This includes piercing our child's ears. Parents are to look after and care for there children, however that doesn't give them the right to impose there will or wishes on the child for pure vanity. This is why Professional body piercers will not pierce babies ears, it's about rights and those of the individual to choose. Body piercing in the hands of a professional is safer than any piercing gun boutique. But we need to "consent" of the individual who is getting the piercing done.

We try when ever possible to get parents to wait till the child can say they want there ears pierced, then it can be a big deal for the child the parents and the professional body piercer as well. We enjoy providing piercing services to parents who's children have decided to get there ears done professionally in a licensed piercing studio. The child can choose the jewellery and the piercing is done safely and cleanly while everyone enjoys the whole experience. Then the professional body piercer is always available should a follow up visit be required. So babies ears should be left alone till baby can say "yes" or "no", let's face it you wouldn't want anyone doing something to you against your will? ............. No I didn't think so...

Please if you are going to do it any way ask to see the business license showing they are in fact inspected by the health unit and licensed by the city to provide piercing services. If they can't provide the documentation then go some where that can provide the documented proof. It's for your child's safety.
