The Illinois Division of Professional Regulation requires all PERC applicants to be free of any felony convictions within a period of 10 years before the application gets sent out.
In many states, having a misdemeanor on your record may not necessarily disqualify you from obtaining a PERC card. However, it ultimately depends on the policies and regulations of the state licensing agency that issues the PERC cards. It is best to check with your state agency for specific guidelines.

If you have been denied a PERC card in Illinois, you can appeal the decision by asking for a hearing. If you are still denied you can try to have a lawyer take your case.
