no you cannot. i recently had the keratin treatment done. my stylist told me not to wash my hair for 4 nights. this gives the chemicals time to change your hair. my stylist gave me special shampoo and conditioner to use when the 4 nights is done. so NO you CANNOT go swimming because this would make some of the chemicals come out while swimming, and a lot more to come out when you wash your hair after swimming. hope this helped=]

You really shouldn't. Get a good, water tight swimming cap, and even then, wait a few weeks. You've already had several strong chemicals in your hair, and the chlorine in the swimming pool can turn your hair green. Yes, I'm serious (it happened to me once), but it can also cause your hair to break off and fall out. A straightening perm has to break each hair follicle down in order to straighten it, so your hair is in a very fragile condition. If you have to swim, like for gym class, get a good, water tight swimming cap, and don't go underwater unless you have to. Make sure you wash your hair with a good neutralizing shampoo, and be sure to condition it afterwards. Don't let it air dry; roll you hair up before you go to bed.

It depends...
According to professionals, you should wait at least 3 days, you should consider a swim cap (even though they aren't fashionable for some women). After perming your hair you should wait at least around 48 hours before even washing your hair. After swimming you should wash your hair thoroughly without scratching your scalp, with fresh water.

"Swimmer's shampoo and conditioners" are suggested for permed or not permed hair.

Ask your hair stylist for suggestions on different hair products.

I personally think that if you get a perm, then you got braids or kinky twist you should about 48 to 72 hours. Your hair will fall out and into the pool, it will fall out into clumps EVEN if you have kinky twist or braids! Trust me i know I've experienced before in my lifetime and i am 37 and i work in a salon, so just trust me... i know this.

You can get it wet but need to wait 24 to 48 hours before shampooing or swimming.

In my own opinion, yes and no. You should because the chlorine could dry out your hair and irritate your scalp. You don't have to because the pool water should be clean enough.

Do hair lasers play a role in perming hair?

Currently there are no lasers that are designed to perm hair. The perming process uses chemicals to change the bonds between certain amino acid molecules in hair. Currently, the laser energy is both too strong and non-specific so it will only damage hair. Perhaps in the (not too distant??) future they will design lasers with hair perming in mind that will either directly produce the perming effect or augment the curent array of chemicals that perm hair.

What is permanently straightening and perming curly hair in the same procedure called?

Why would you want to do that? Straightening is to make curly hair straight; perming makes straight hair curly. Doing both in the same procedure would just destroy your hair. If you're trying to turn your tight curls into loose ones, having your hair relaxed is the way to go.

How can a perm damage your hair?

Yes, however only when the person doing the perm does not know what the chemicals in the perm and neutraliser are capable of doing to the hair. Always ensure your hairdresser does a number of hair tests before perming the hair. If the hairdresser has done this and has experience of perming hair, then it will be safe to have a perm.
