you could get sugary gumdrops toothpicks and use the color for the type of atom. Then u put them on toothpicks and match them together to make what u want out of them. After all of that's been done show it to your teacher and get an A+.

An model of a gold atom can be made using its electron configuration. You know that each period on the Periodic Table corresponds to a principle number. The electron configuration of a gold atom is 1s2 2s2 2p6 3s2 3p6 4s2 3d10 4p6 5s2 4d10 5p6 6s1 4f14 5d10. Draw a large circle and label it with P: 79 for the amount of protons in a gold nucleus and N: 118 for the number of neutrons in a gold nucleus. Now draw 6 concentric circles around this circle. Fill each circle, with the corresponding electrons shown in the electron configuration of Gold. The first circle outside of the nucleus will be the 1st energy level. Now you have a model of a gold atom!

Of course you can. You can have a diagram of any atom. First off, Golds symbol is Au and its Atomic number is 79 and its atomic mass number is 197. So inside the neutron there is 79 protons and 118 neutrons. There are then 79 electrons circling the outer shell.

Gold (Au) has atomic number 79, so any atom with 79 protons in it is Gold.

Transforming another element to Gold was the alchemist's old dream, but they lacked the understanding of how to do it. If you could take Mercury (Hg), with atomic number 80 and knock a proton out of it, you'd get Gold.

Transforming another element to Gold is something that has been done for tiny quantities in enormous particle accelerators, but the cost to run the accelerator (they consume a _lot_ of electricity) is prohibitive. I don't know what they started with.

No. A "broken" atom of gold may be an ion, but it does not have the same chemical properties as an intact atom of gold.

What is the smallest particle of the element gold that can still be classified as gold?

The smallest particle in gold should in fact be gold. Gold is an element, Au, and thus should only contain gold atoms. You could also argue that some subatomic particle is the smallest particle in gold.

What is the smallest part of the element gold that still retains the chemical properties of gold?

That's an atom of gold. An atom is the smallest representative particle of an element.
