Methadone is a very powerful drug and the chance of significant side effects including the likelihood of death are increased when combined with alcohol.

Additionally, many methadone clinics require their patients to sign treatment contracts which require the patient to promise not to use or abuse other substances while being treated. It is possible to detect alcohol use during the frequent drug testing that should be occurring as part of the treatment regimen. So it is likely your best bet to lay off the alcohol until your treatment is complete, maybe longer if you are struggling with addictions.

Methadone slows down your breathing, so does alcohol, I have had two friends drink and take methadone and never woke up.

Methadone and alcohol are central nervous system depressants. Combining the two can cause the suppression of reflex actions, a weak heartrate, low blood pressure, slowed or stopped breathing leading to a lack of oxygen, becoming unconscious, aspiration, cardiac arrest, coma, or death.

Methadone is a depressant like alcohol. It is never a good idea to mix depressant drugs, as they can result in an overdose. There is no way to predict the results in a given individual at a given time. It is a lousy idea.

Yes, but it is not recommended. If you do decide to drink though, do it in moderation as they are both cardiovascular and respiratory depressants and can cause heart failure and make you stop breathing.

Both are Central Nervous System depressants so when they are mixed together they can kill you. Do not mix the two. Ask your doctor before mixing anything.

NO! Do not EVER drink while on methadone. Even one drink can cause a deadly drug reaction. Two, three, or four drinks and you are SERIOUSLY risking your life.

No, drinking will not help remove methadone from your system. In fact it will more likely show it up when the police etc test you.

What drugs mixed with alcohol cause blackouts?

The answer to your question is yes and no. Yes, you can get a blackout when you take alcohol and methadone together. And no, methadone is not the cause of a blackout. If you get a blackout it is strictly from the Alcohol consumption. Of course, methadone will increase your level of intoxication. But if you blackout on methadone, you are either dead or overdosing. Methadone is a very dangerous drug and has an incredibly long half-life. I do NOT recommend mixing methadone and any other drug. If you are going to drink while on methadone, do so in moderation.

Anyway your not suppose drink alcohol while on mrth..... No. Alcohol slows down your metabolism therefore your body does not metabolize methadone as quickly as it would without alcohol. You may feel differently and have differant side effects becasue of the above answer.

Can you drink while you are on the Methodone program?

no, you shouldn't - alcohol and methadone are both sedatives and slow down your breathind, so there's a real danger of death if you drink too much. chemists won't dispense methadone to anyone who is obviously drunk and may breathalyse you, andif your doctor thinks you are likely to drink he will be unlikely to prescribe methadone, particularly at higher doses. having said that, clearly many people do drink whilst on methadone but they are taking a definite risk.

Can alcohol help get opiates out of your system?

Alcohol cannot accelerate the disassociation of the methadone from the receptors in your brain (which is the withdrawal. If you take methadone with Alcohol it can lead to the "feeling of withdrawal, but what you are feeling is symptoms of overdose, which feel similar. Both can depress the respiratory system and that is why it is so dangerous to take together, as is benzos and methadone. It can kill you.
