Many Home theaters also include a BLUE RAY DISC player and since one was already included with the PS3 this 1000 watt 5.1 system with the built in speaker stands met my needs perfectly. I do not know whether systems without the HDMI repeaters can be connected the same way. I just followed the home theater set up instructions and set up the PS3 as a Blu Ray Disc player, which it also is.
