How many subs can you hook up to a mono amp?

well if its a 2 channel then 1 pair of subs like if it has only one red and one white connecters then only one pair of subs then if it has 2 of each then 2 pairs of subs that's called a 4 channel amp seacrh in Google 4 channel amp and 2 channel amp you'll see what am talking about see look http://akamaipix.crutchfield.com/ca/learningcenter/car/subwoofer_wiring/4DVC_4-ohm_4ch.jpg

For sub woofers do you need a mono amp or a 2 channel amp?

Depends if you are building heavy bass system with quite a few subs then a mono amp would be suggested but if it is just a single sub just for a standard bass upgrade then a 2 channel amp would be fine you can still use a mono amp on one sub just remember to take into perspective the RMS rating and the Impedance on both the Subs and the Amp

What happens if you hook up two subs to a mono channel amp?

If you hook them up you get a lousy sound cos the gigga bites in each dont get no where. You the bass is wicked but does not last for long cos the subs create holes so obviously the subs do not work and you have to fork out more so just dont be stupid and do that to your car.

Can you hook up 2dvc subs to a channel amp?

Type in google 'subwoofer wiring' and click on the 'crutchfield' link. Really good diagrams on how to connect dvc subs and svc subs to any amp.

Can you hook 2 subs to a mono amp?

Sure i have 2 400 watt rockfords connected to a 400watt kenwood mono amp. This statement made by another is true. You can hook up 20 subs to a mono amp; BUT you have to configure the speakers by impedance/ohms. if you hook two 2 ohm speakers to a 4 ohm steady amp in parallel you will soon buy a new amp. if you hook 10 speakers in series you will not even get it warm. Each speaker will also divide the available wattage and will not have a lot of power. Take it to a good shop if you don't know the formula for this. you may save your amp. BMyers Lake city, FL

Can you hook up two subwoofers to one receiver?

yes, you can, either via a Y-cable to the sub output, or via a pre-amp, or hook them up parallel to a mono amp or if you have a 2 channel amp then just hook them up regurally but if you have a mono amp then...have two positive and two negative wires coming out of the amp then hook 1 negative wire up to the negative spot on a speaker..then do the same with the other..then do the same with the positive

How do you hook up a amp and subs to a 1999 Lincoln town car?

You first take the amp Then you take the subs. Then. Voila.

Stereo amp or mono amp for your sub?

Most preamps just have a mono output for a subwoofer. No real reason to run stereo for subs, unless maybe you are running two speaker boxes as subs. Most amps are switchable to mono mode and put out more power in mono. Hope this helps.

Help with a car sound system Im new to it and you dont know what kind of amp to get or what it all means like the mono amp or what the 2channel or multi channel is...?

to go along with that, i have 2 12" subs... if that helps at all

What do you set your amp to for 2 12 subs?

to mono if your amp will allow, also this is for single voice coil. otherwise run in mono parallel to run dual voice coils.

What is a channel in amplifier mean?

a channel refers to the speakers or subs. for example a 2 channel amp can power 2 subs or speakers. a 4 channel will power 4.

How do you wire an amplifier to 2 subs?

Mono amp: hook up 2 wires to the positive speaker output, and 2 wires to the negative speaker output. Hook the positives up to the positive leads on the subs, and the negatives to the negatives. Stereo amp: one positive wire to each positive output on the amp, same with negative. Make sure you get corresponding positive and negative to each sub. Stereo amp running bridged (mono): It's normally the outter positive and negative leads, but refer to the manual. Wire same way as a mono amp, just use the bridge outputs. Mono or Bridged would be running 2 ohms if you are running single coil subs. Stereo would be 4 ohms. If you have a dual coil sub (such as Kicker Comp VR), you would want to run stereo because those subs run 2 ohm's stock do to the dual voice coils. Or 1 amp per sub unless you have a 1 ohm stable amp, which most likely you don't.
