NO! the compressor has oil in the crankcase similar to a car. The compressor relies on among other things gravity to return the oil back. There are window shakers out there that will fit your application, just not this one.

If you are referring to turning it on it's side, then no. The condensate that occurs typically collects in a pan that helps cool the internal working of many modern ac units.
Your location matters. If in Florida heat pump in more northern climes furnace & ac.
Condensing Unit... From VAMP Maintenance
Because the fan is designed to splash the water on the condensor to cool it down better. This is how higher EER ratios are achieved, up to 11 or 12 in the modern window AC units.
They make a special type of window ac for those windows. You should buy the proper unit.

Yes, it's very wasy to install a window AC unit. Most single room AC units just need to be placed in the window opening and the cover flaps secured to the sides of the window sill with a couple screws and that's it. AC units are designed with a weight distribution which will support it's self in the window. There are bigger ones which require a support but those are easy to install as well. Instructions come with all new units.
Yes in a anderson flexivent window

I am looking for a window AC unit to use in my whole house. What is the BTU's one would need to cool a whole house?
yes
It will not work, the ac unit needs to blow the heat removed from indoors to outdoors. Running a window ac unit without venting it outside will make the room hotter.
If there is not a pressure tap on the suction line(the larger pipe comming off of the compressor) you need to install a piercing valve with a 1/4" flare for the refrigerant hose and charge. Depending on the age of the window unit it might be worth buying a new one.
