Slam shut valve?
Slam Shut-off valve is installed immediately after the filter & prior to the Regulator. It normally remains open, incase the outlet pressure of the regulator exceeds the permissible limits, the slam shut off the valve senses it through the impulse line & immediately shuts off the flow to the downstream. When the regulator is repaired, the slam shut off is to be open manually by pulling the knob. Once the flow starts through the shut off valve it will remain open till the outlet pressure of the regulator is within limits.

Incorrect weight oil. Incorrect size or cheap filter. Partially clogged oil galleys. Install the correct weight oil as listed in your owner's manual, and install a quality filter. If you have a GM vehicle install an AC/Delco filter. Other's use Purolator or Wix filter.

The filter at the bottom of the pump unit is a strainer, and there are actually two of them in there. The main filter is held on top of the pump unit by a clip and also acts as a fuel pressure regulator. The fuel filter/regulator is reckoned by Jeep to be a lifetime filter. The only reason for changing it is if the anti drainback valve has failed within it, allowing fuel to slowly drain back into the tank causing a long crank problem at cold starts. The filter/regulator is available on eBay for around $50.

I would suspect the fuel pressure regulator valve which is located between the fuel rails beneath the plenum. If the diaphragm inside the valve fails it can allow gasoline to enter the vacuum line that operates the valve and then the gasoline can be pulled into the throttle body then migrate down to the air filter. If the pressure regulator is defective it can also cause rough idle and stalling at idle. You can do a check for this situation by removing the multiple port vacuum line fitting that plugs into the top of the throttle body. If gasoline is present in the plastic line that usually indicates a faulty fuel pressure regulator valve.
