Yes. Being a mother should never stop you from doing anything that want to do career wise. I myself would feel better if my obstetrician was a parent because they understand me being scared,anxious and tired.

According to what I have read, an Obstetrician is a Gynecologist, but a Gynecologist is not always an Obstetrician. Being an Obstetrician you must be able to identify, treat and handle the female reproductive system just like a Gynecologist. However, I believe you can practice being an Obstetrician without beings a Gynecologist. If your more keen on just the delivery and treatment for newborns, consider neonatology.
