No you can't. It'll mess up the chemistry. You can use 1/2 baking soda 1/2 cream of tar tar I use this in all my baking as my mother never bought baking powder when I was a kid. should be two parts cream of tartar per one part baking soda. ex: 1/2 tsp. baking soda, 1 tsp. cream of tartar. Baking soda by itself is not acidic enough to react with all the basic ingredients in the recipe. Unless you add acidity by adding cream of tartar, the cornbread won't rise as much because not enough carbon dioxide will be produced.
Baking powder. Cornbread is heavy enough that it has to have something to make it rise. I don't think egg whites are going to be enough. Just for fun, I will try and make a batch tomorrow and will get back to you with the results.
Didn't wait till tomorrow. Just took a batch out of the oven. Different, very similar to a pound cake in texture. Not at all crusty like regular cornbread made with baking powder. Message me if you want the recipe I came up with.
Yes, you can use baking powder. Baking soda is usually used when buttermilk is the wet ingredient.
No as baking soda may not do the job so well.
no we cant bake without powder
you could but it would turn out flat
yes you can but the coat around the hot dog will not be as this thick as it is with baking powder or baking soda
You cannot use baking powder as a substitute for baking soda
No, baking powder is what makes cakes rise.
There are several things which help baked products rise. The one you use often depends on what it is you are baking. For homemade breads, yeast is what is used to make the bread rise. For cakes, pancakes, biscuits and cornbread, baking soda or baking powder is what's used to make them rise. Also, eggs are the 'leavening' agent in some baked goods, such as pound cake.
If your talking about food i would use flour to make things thicker not baking powder and definitely not baking soda...you use that to make CRACK...
You probably mean baking powder.
CCan I use baking powder in banana bread
You cannot use baking powder as a substitute for baking soda.
Use a cake-like dough that uses baking powder for levening.
All baking powder is double acting, It is just called that to make it sound better. Baking powder causes lift from both moisture and heat, that's the double acting.
Baking powder makes most types of flowers die, this is because of the chemicals used in the baking powder. If you want to clear your garden, you can actually use baking powder! It doesn't work on weeds though.
the purpose of baking powder in a cake is to make it rise and not make it flat and if you put too much of baking powder your cake might burst in the oven/microwave what ever you use
