You have to have a CPF and a physical address to open a personal cheking account in Brazil. CPF is the taxpayer number, such as an ITIN / SSN. Banks usually want to see the client as you haver to sign docs to open the account and a proof of home address in your name, such as an utility bill. Maybe you can find specilized companies which deal with it, I mean, to help you open an account in Brazil
you can't
Tax Identification Number (TIN). If you're an individual, that will be your Social Security Number (SSN).
I too am on H1B and got a SSN. The Wachovia and Bank Of America Secured card already declined me.
nope.
Actually None. A Social Security Number is a mandatory requirement if you want to open a checking account in the United States. However, if you are a new resident of the country (say a foreign worker) the bank will allow you to open the account with the SSN but you have to apply for your SSN and update your bank records within the first month of opening of the account. If you fail to do so, the bank can freeze or even close your account.
When you apply for a bank account or card the SSN is wanted and asked for. Without it you can't get it.
Yes. Whenever a person wants to open a bank account, his social security number has to be submitted to the bank. So, by using the SSN, police and federal officers can track the bank account records of a person.
You are not legally required to know your social security number, however, there are many situations in which you will need to know it; you cannot apply for a job or open a bank account without a social security number.

Yes, you do need a SSN to get a checking account in the United States. You must provide an ID and also your SSN.
A bank will not send someone's SSN through emails. A bank will not send SSN by mail either.
Typically no, once your account gets to the point of charged off, it has been overdrawn for roughly 45 days (give or take). Your name and SSN then get reported to ChexSystems which then notifies every bank of your charged off account. Not many banks want to risk losing their money to you if you've already lost money for another bank. Your best chance to get an account is to go back to the bank your account was charged off, explain what happened, and hope for the best. And next time balance your checkbook... daily.
Technically, checking accounts do not rely on whether you have bad credit or not- the only thing that would stand in the way of opening a checking account is if you are registered in Chex Systems, which is a when a bank reports that your account becomes overdrawn and it remains in that state for an extended period of time. You just need to go into the bank (or website if you want to open up an account in an online bank) and apply. Just make sure that you use both your SSN and EIN while applying for business accounts.
