It's best to leave the baby guinea pigs alone for the first few days with their mom. Sometimes the moms think that you are going to hurt them or take them away. The mom guinea pig will sometimes try to bite you. Hope this helps Laura
I would not recommend picking up baby guinea pigs. You may get them sick. Also, the mother doesnt wan't their babies to smell like humans! Wait for about 6 weeks!
Yes. You can handle guinea pigs straight from birth. But if you handle them too much the mother might think that their not hers and that she doesn't need to look after them.
no. the mother will likely reject the baby after if she smells your scent on it. after they've opened their eyes(about 2 weeks old) you can hold them.
You should wait until you have enough supplies for your guinea pig.
The name Guinea Pig came from the sailors. sailors thought their squeals sounded like a pigs. and they sold guinea pigs for one guinea. thus guinea pig.
i have 2 15 months old female guinea pigs can i introduce a new baby guinea pig
Guinea pigs are smart creatures and if you really try you may be able to but like dogs you can't teach an old guinea pig new tricks
The etymology of guinea pig is unknown and confusing.Despite its name, guinea pigs are not from Guinea nor are in the pig family. They are native to the Andes Mountains in South America. They are believed to have been called pigs because their structure is similar to that of a pig's body. The guinea part of the name is even more confusing. There are three theories: one is that the guinea pigs were brought across the Atlantic Ocean to the island of Guinea then to Europe, another is that guinea was used because it is a word in the English language that means "far away land", and a third is that it was a variation of the word "Guiana", a region in South America (composed of Dutch Guiana [now Suriname], British Guiana [now Guyana], and French Guiana [still present]).No one really knows how they got the 'guinea' part but they are called pigs because they make sounds like pigs.
Guine pigs can be handled from birth although they are very scatty so you should use extreme caution. Young guinea pigs are not known for biting so can be handled the same way as adult guinea pigs
never handle newborn guinea pigs. this can cause the mother to eat them
probley new guinea

most say it is from Peru not new guinea
Guinea pigs are herbivores, so they will not eat other guinea pigs. However, they can sometimes get into fights when they are first introduced. Make sure that you supervise them carefully. If your looking for how to introduce two new guinea pigs,
lots of the time they do butsometimes they do not because they are sleeping
