It's best to leave the baby guinea pigs alone for the first few days with their mom. Sometimes the moms think that you are going to hurt them or take them away. The mom guinea pig will sometimes try to bite you. Hope this helps Laura

∙ 12y agoI would not recommend picking up baby guinea pigs. You may get them sick. Also, the mother doesnt wan't their babies to smell like humans! Wait for about 6 weeks!

∙ 15y agoYes. You can handle guinea pigs straight from birth. But if you handle them too much the mother might think that their not hers and that she doesn't need to look after them.
