How do you remove the front brake caliper on a 1991 Cadillac Sedan De Ville with front wheel drive?

There are two bolts that go through the caliper. They can be seen from the back side (toward the center of the vehicle) and require an "allen wrench" to remove them. Once the bolts are loosened you'll need to work them all of the way out so that you can remove the caliper. Then the caliper can be nudged and persuaded to come off. To put it all back together, compress the caliper piston first and use disk brake lube on the bolts and the point where the two halves of the caliper slide across each other.

How do you change the front brakes on a 2002 Pontiac sunfire?

You'll need a 3/8" hex drive (allan key) and a C-Clamp (something that can compress the brake piston) After you jack the front wheel and remove it, use the 3/8" hex drive to remove the brake caliper from the brake rotor. The bolt/screw that you need to get access to for you to do this is located on the inboard side of the brake caliper. Turn it all the way out and you'll notice that the brake caliper is now a little bit loose and can be pry'd off the brake rotor. Remove the brake rotor from the axle and install the new clean one. (Wipe the oil or grease away from the rotor) Pry the Pads off of the caliper with a screwdriver or something like that. Use a "C"-clamp and push the brake piston all the way back to the retracted posistion. Install the new brake pads and then install the brake caliper on the rotor. Tighten the 3/8" Hex drive bolt/screw Install your wheel and start your vehicle and pump your brakes a few times as it will feel "Spongy" for a few pumps. The brake pedal will become more responsive. Wouldn't hurt to check your brake fluid level. Use appropiate fluid.

How do you install disc brakes on the front of a 1987 Isuzu Trooper?

This is a pretty easy brake job, once you realize how to deal with the top caliper bolt. To start, set ebrake, jack and secure vehicle. Remove tire... The caliper looks like most disc brake calipers at first. You use a metric 14mm socket to remove lower caliper bolt. The top "bolt" is not really a bolt at all. Its basically just a hole on the caliper that slides onto a shaft that is attached to the caliper bracket. All you do is remove that lower bolt, the insert a screwdriver between the lower side of the caliper and the bracket and pry it up and out. The entire caliper will pivot up and then you push it towards the center of the vehicle and it will slide right off. You simply remove the pads and use a C-clamp to compress the brake piston back to a fully open position and then insert new pads and reassemble. *Note: You will want to remove the brake fluid cap before you compress the brake pistons on both sides. Then check fluids and secure the cap again when done. Your initial brake pedal step will go to the floor and then it will pump tight. Do a test drive and you should be good to go...
