I was at Beachy Head on a very clear night around 11 -12 in 2019 and west i could see the red lights of the Chillerton down mast on the Isle of Wight ( 70 miles away) and East to the right of Dungeness i could just make out the lights of Boulogne in France ( 60 miles away ) .

In May 2014, I went to Beachy Head just after Hastings Country Park (up in the firehills) where I could see the cliffs/hills of Bologne; the same hills could be seen from beachy head (unless a similar looking mirage).

The closest area at France is Cap gris nez which is 60 miles in diagonal line and that is the same distance as the Isle of Wight that can be seen on a very clear day so you might be able to see it on it's clearest on bright mornings but not very clearly.
