No. However, collection staff will treat marijuana use by a potential donor the same way as alcohol; If staff can smell marijuana or ETOH, the donor will be temporarily deferred. This has nothing to do with the drug or ETOH being present in the blood product; the small amount will have no effect on the recipient. Rather, the intoxicants, along with the volume and red cell loss, increase the risk of post donation reactions, such as dizziness, fainting, nausea, vomiting and/or (rarely) seizure activity.
Actual, that's wrong! Marijuana is NOT on the list of drugs the FDA/CDC requires asked. It IS a legal prescription is several states, and those who take it that way are NOT barred from donating blood. There are very few drugs, legal or not, on the list that defers a donor. METHOD of administration is more important (i.e. sharing needles, injecting ANYTHING not prescribed or administered by a medical professional, etc.)
However, DO NOT show up to donate high! Seriously, you need to be sober and not on anything not medically necessary for survival when you give blood. For your sake and the recipient. And remember, you're down 10% of your blood...your tolerance afterwards will be LOW! And hydrate before and after, you'll thank me.
All blood collection facilities would treat marijuana use the same as alcohol: If donor staff can detect the smell of marijuana or alcohol, the person would not be allowed to donate at that time. This has nothing to do with intoxicants in the blood component; the amount present would have no effect on the patient. The alcohol or THC could, when combined with the loss of fluid volume and red cell mass, increase the risk of post-donation reactions such as dizziness, fainting, nausea, etc.

Yes. Marijuana goes into your body and goes to your heart and brain. It is then pumped through your body and blood vessels and veins. Marijuana affects EVERYTHING in your body.
Yes. I don't think they even ask you about it. At least, nobody asked me when I gave blood.
Yes . You can choose to. Doesn't mean you should though. although you can you shouldn't because either way it ruins the inside (and eventually the outside) of your body it is also illegal.
If they do test you for your THC content , then you will be turned down and asked to come back within a month or two.
short and simple yes
It might be really weird to give blood while you are intoxicated, I would not recommend it. Don't do it. If they run a Tox screen on the donations, yours will be discarded. If you are donating for money and they find out, you will be barred from donating.
it is wrong to smoke in the first place not to talk of marijuana
yea so dont smoke it
Marijuana smoke is asborbed directly into the bloodstream through the lungs, where as the Liver filters blood that is coming away from the digestive tract.
yes in fact everyone has marijuana in thier blood. people also have apples, potatoes, lemons, and peaches in their blood too...............no one has marijuana in thier blood because it is a plant. poeple that smoke marijuana do have THC in their blood which is a chemical found in marijuana that causes the desired effects marijuana produces.
maybe marijuana? you smoke it and you inhale the smoke with your lungs..
I have a low platelet count which causes me blood clotting problems and I have been recommended by my haematologist not to smoke marijuana or use cannabis products.
A person decides to smoke marijuana when they are offered it, have an opportunity to buy and smoke it, or when they have an urge to smoke marijuana.
You won't get HIV through donating blood.
yes in away because when you eat all the blood rushes to your stomach, and you get sleepy
when u smoke marijuana it stays in your fat cells for 30 days, but it only stays in your blood system for only 24 hours.
Yes it will be detected in a blood test. Only if your blood is specifically tested for the presence of drugs. Most often marijuana will be tested in urine because of the ease of collection.
