Can you sue the church for being isolated and made to feel unwelcome after rumours started that you had an affair with the vicar you are now suffering with depression due to the stress?

That is not a legitimate reason to sue somebody. I would sooner suggest moving away than try and go up against a church because if you think people despise you now just wait until other people get wind of it. They will most likely say something about how you are going against God or something stupid like that. Ask yourself what the reason was or the circumstances under which you were accused of this. Maybe try address the problem head on instead of hiding from everybody because hiding makes you look guilty. Then again if you did have an affair with the vicar, then you deserve the depression. And if those people there were ever truly your friends then they would sooner believe you than some rumour, unless, like previously mentioned, they have reason to believe the validity of the accusation.
BY THE WAY - YOU DO NOT SUFFER DEPRESSION FROM STRESS (in your case at least) YOU DEVELOP AN ANXIETY DISORDER.
