Can you legally tow a vehicle on a trailre to another state if the vehicle being towed has and expired tag? I don't want the states pulling me over for this and don't know about this. Don't want to renew the plates only to have to renew them again when I get to Arizona. Thanks, Gene.
Some states will issue a temporary tag for a fee, or you can hire an auto transporter to ship it to its destination. You should also be able to register your new vehicle in your home state with the proper documentation and payment of taxes and or fees.
Would depend on the state.
In South Carolina, there is no official grace period for driving with an expired vehicle registration tag. If your tag has expired, you are technically operating the vehicle illegally and could face fines or penalties if stopped by law enforcement. It is advisable to renew your registration promptly to avoid any legal issues. Always check with the South Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles for the most current regulations.
depends what the vehicle is.
As of 4/29/13 a ticket for expired tag is $159 in Shreveport, LA and expired inspection sticker is $50.
go to the tag office, they will give you a paper, for a state patrol officer comes to your house and inspect the vehicle,he then fills it -out stating it is that vehicle, you then carry that paper back to your county tag office and they issue you another one
In South Carolina, driving with an expired tag can result in a fine of up to $200. Additionally, law enforcement may issue a ticket or citation for the violation. If the tag is expired for more than 90 days, the penalties may increase, and there could be additional fees or legal repercussions. It's advisable to renew vehicle registration promptly to avoid these penalties.
Yes
In Clayton County, Georgia, receiving a ticket for an expired tag typically results in a fine and may require you to renew your vehicle registration. The penalties can vary based on how long the tag has been expired. To resolve the ticket, you should renew your vehicle's registration as soon as possible and follow any instructions provided on the ticket regarding payment or court appearances. It's advisable to check with the local court or DMV for specific procedures related to your situation.
Not sure about other states, but in Georgia when you buy a tag for your vehicle that is YOUR tag, if you sell your car or it gets repo'd you can get the tag and trasfer it to another vehicle.
If there is a seize tag order from the state when they run the tag then yes they can if the driver is listed as a owner of the vehicle.
Until you get caught ... PA police are rather touchy about that issue, so I'd suggest that you move quickly on getting a new decal. (I'm a lifelong PA resident)
