That's a bad thing to do, the gerbil could die. In the wild they wouldn't find much water so their body's can't cope with large amounts. Also gerbils aren't used to large amounts of water on their fur, if they can't get dry or warm again then they'd die.

When training a gerbil you have to remember that you can't teach it too much at once. Just take 5-10 minutes everyday and pick out a 1 or 2 syllable word. Say that word once or twice until your gerbil get the meaning of it. So remember if you start to train a gerbil finish or you will confuse the gerbil. And only train one thing at a time.
