You can change your harddrive from 40 GB to 80 GB but it will not make your PS3 an 80 GB model PS3. Nothing will do that. If you are going to increase the size of the hard drive you might as well go for a larger size than 80 GB.

but that model will not play ps2 games, only the factory 80 gig model plays ps2

∙ 14y agoYes but there is no point in degrading a HDD. If you want to upgrade you need a 2.5" SATA 5200rpm serial connection HDD. Some small screwdrivers and patience.
