This question needs to be clarified. What block and heads do you want to install? Chevy, Pontiac, Olds....which one?
1966 289ci Ford
Mounted on the engine block drivers side below the P/S pump.
1964-1966 smallblock corvette's to be more precise, the 461 smallblock chevy heads.
350 and 327 [1966 - 1980]
It screws into the engine block right above the oil filter.
look on the passenger side of the block below the exhaust manifold and before the oil pan.
An intake from a Pontiac 400 will fit a 389 as long as the engine, or more specifically, the heads are from model year 1965 or 1966.
the big block will bolt right to the small block motor mounts but they do make big block motor mounts that you can buy and install on the 66, it lets the engine sit a little lower and further to the drivers side.
There were difrent engine blocks, the A block 1966 and older. There were diferent camshafts, carbs, sometimes crankshafts and manifolds on Pickups and vans in comparison to the cars.
If you have a 361 the 383 heads will work, but they won't work on a 318.
It's a 283 CID engine, manufactured on April 27, 1966.
Check here... http://www.allpar.com/mopar/4bbl.html Hopefully this will help. The early 1964-1966 273 heads were drilled at a different angles and will not work. The head bolt pattern is the same for all small block, pre magnum heads, X heads w/ 2.02 valves will hit the 273 block because the bore size is too small. The 273 heads are closed chamber and you will loose quite a bit of compression moving to J heads, open chamber, from a 318. The early 273 engines are not any fun to try to hot rod and unless you are looking to keep numbers matching you can build a great 318 engine and the only thing that is really different is the LEFT engine mount, it is reversed. Easy to overcome but be ready to scratch your head when you drop the new engine in. You will need a saw, a washer and a welder to convert the motor mount bracket. 273 exhaust manifolds will not fit on anything but 273 heads, they bolt up and look good and then they leak. I've built every small block 273-340 combination you can dream of. All the best. NSF Racing
how to remove a 1966 283 engine from a Nova
235/75/15 is the size on my 1966 f100
The power of the engine of the ford bronco 8cyl 1966 is 200 hp
Yes. A gto is pretty much the same chassis as a chevelle, which was available with a 396, which is the same size and weight as a 454.
Could be a bad ignition switch....
This would be a late 1965 to early 1966 manufactured engine, 1966 model year 1300 cc engine.
You should use 327ci 300hp 1966 Corvette engine oil ;)
NO! The 427 Chevy engine was not sold by GM until 1963. The 427 is a big block engine and the very first big block was the 348 introduced in 1958. The 409 was introduced in 1961. The 427 in limited production only in 1963. The 427 was later released again in 1966 as a production engine. The largest engine every offered in the 1957 Chevy was the 283 V8. You could order this engine with mechanical fuel injection in 1957.
