Why would you? Most / all clogs are a physical blockage and should be physically removed.

That said, once the blockage is removed, one should use Bio-Clean from their locally licensed plumber. This should be used on a monthly basis to keep ALL the drains in your house clear.

I'm not personally familiar with the product, I would check the product label to see what it says. I have a bottle of "Mister Plumber" liquid formula in front of me (just cleared a shower drain) UPC is 072833050323 and it states on the bottle that it is septic safe. BUT - here's my opinion on this. There is no "Septic Safe Coalition" per se, forbidding/restricting a company from claiming their product is "septic safe" - most will even say, "Septic safe when used in moderation" lol...well, what's that mean? Basically, probably shouldn't be used, IMHO - but yes, I took the plunge today (lol, pun) - and used this Mister Plumber, half the bottle or so anyways on my shower drain, and it seems to be cleared. But you gotta look at it this way, why put "NOT SAFE FOR SEPTIC SYSTEMS"? You've just lost a bunch of customers since so many people are still on septic systems...so if you say Oh yea, our product is safe for septic systems, people will buy it, since the company say it is. But then obviously, you got the plumbers and septic pumpers who will bad mouth these drain openers too.....(like they do Rid X, brewers yeast, etc..lol) cause it's more money in their pocket when you call them up for a drain snake, pump out, etc... You may want to contact a real plumber, or even a septic company and get their opinion. You may be better off getting the drain mechanically snaked, using baking soda and vinegar, wait 30min-1hr, and then flush boiling water down the drain :) The hot water should be able to break up the jam. I believe there's even some YouTube or metacafe videos that put claim to this.... But as I eluded to above, anything in moderation shouldn't hurt your system, provided you are maintaining it, pumping it out regularly, etc....the one bottle, or half bottle of Mister Plumber shouldn't hurt too much...especially since the majority will be "stuck" absorbing the clog, until you flush down that boiling hot water, which, when mixed with the Mister Plumber will probably dissipate it anyways, leaving not much solution/ratio left behind in your tank. Another point, a clogged/slow drain could also be a sign of a near capacity tank....especially if it's occurring with more than one drain. May want to consider investing in a hair trap for shower and bath tubs :) I know I am, after I dug the gunk out of this drain (before selling myself to Mister Plumber, for $1 at my local dollar tree lol).
