The answer will depend on the conditions which should be printed on the coupon or available wherever you got the coupon from.
Normally, if the coupon is for the sale of a single item (10p off you next purchase of widgets) you can use multiple coupons. But if the coupon is on purchase of multiple items "or a large volume of items" (5p off per litre when you next buy petrol) you cannot.
In the first case, you could not be stopped from going round again and again making a single purchase each time. Even if the retailer stopped you, you could always go to another outlet. So stopping the use of multiple coupons would simply waste your time and the retailers.
Finally, you cannot use multiple coupons that offer a percentage off. If 10% off, I would collect 11 of those coupons and get the retailer to pay me 10% for every item I bought!
