Can you put diesel oil in a petrol car?

NO!!! It's not the same kind of engine. A diesel engine has glow plugs, a gasoline engine has spark plugs. A diesel engine ignite the fuel by compression, the gasoline engine ignite it with spark plugs. Some people add a SMALL amount of gasoline to their diesel fuel in the winter when the temperature falls below -20 deg celsius (5 deg below zero F), to prevent the diesel from turning waxy.

Can petrol oil be used in diesel engines?

Read the label on the oil. The API and SAE marking are: 'S' is for spark ignited and 'C' is for combustion ignition. Example: Shell Rotella T and Chevron Delo 400 are rated for both petrol and diesel engines. Many oils are only rated for one or the other.

What is the difference between oil for diesel cars and oil for petrol cars?

None really, they just lubricate. Since diesels have slightly higher internal pressures, the may recommend "stronger" oils for diesels, but that's mainly a sales ploy. And, many top brands of synthetic oil - Mobil 1, Shell Helix, for example, are described as being suitable for both petrol and diesel engines.

Petrol oil in a diesel car?

I've had this happen more than once on diesel trucks in my shop. You need to remove the fuel tank, and drain it well. Refill the tank to full with the proper fuel. You may have to crank it over for a while to get all the wrong stuff pushed through, but it will usually start up. Shall we be pedantic? Diesel fuel is an oil. Petrol is not an oil - it's a a spirit. But wait! We know what you are really asking! What you are asking is "Can you use engine oil which does not specifically say it's for use in diesel engines, in a diesel engine?" If this is what you are asking, then the answer is "Yes you can" - but with qualifications. Today's 5w/30 "fuel saving" oil as used by Ford, and many other oils, are formulated for both petrol and diesel engines. Any engine oil (of the correct grade) will lubricate a diesel engine, but diesels are dirty! The oil easily fouls up with diesel particulate, and an oil made only for petrol engines will form sludge unless changed very regularly.

What is bio diesel fuel?

Bio diesel is diesel fuel made from natural, renewable sources, re-claimed oils such as cooking oils from restaurants, vegetable oils and animal fats. It is basically the same as regular diesel, just that it's natural, works the same, and doesn't pollute the environment with toxins.Bio-diesel is a renewable bio-fuel made from vegetable oil that can be used in Diesel engines. The carbon dioxide it emits was removed from the atmosphere when the vegetation grew, so bio-diesel is carbon neutral, not adding to global warming.
