Ultimately washing your piercing with very diluted soap and plenty of water is a good way to look after the piercing. Using a soap with no coloring and no scent or very little scent (liquid antibacterial Soft Soap "Aquarium" is recommended). A small pea sized amount in your hand adding water to it so you have a wet lather, apply this to the piercing while rotating or shuffling the jewellery in the piercing, then rinse the piercing under warm running water ensuring you rinse all the soap out of the piercing. Once rinsed dry the piercing with a clean dry towel or tissue. Soap and water is has been the norm for piercing aftercare ever since the 80's and has proven effective in aiding the piercing to heal naturally without the use of sprays and ointments.

Yes by all means do so, just be sure the soap is not heavy in scenting or moisturizers. Make sure you rinse the piercing under running water while moving the stud or ring to ensure you have flushed all the soap out of the piercing.

Is it ok to use table salt instead of sea salt for an infected ear piercing?

No, you shouldn't be using salt on the piercing at all if it is infected. Wash the piercing using lathered soap, work the soap into the piercing and then irrigate the piercing with running water while rotating or shuffling the jewellery to rinse the soap and infected dishcharge from the piercing.

What do you use if sea salt soaks dont get rid of the nose piercing bump?

I would recommend that you either try a gentle antibacterial soap and water, or you consult a physician. That could be a bad sign.

Infected nose piercing?

if your nose piercing is infected don't touch it with your bare hands. wet your nose ring, take a q-tip with water and soap on it to clean the inside and outside of your nose and then run water out of the faucet on it. clean it like this twice a day and it its not going away talk to your piercer about it. Well simply put it's called soap and water. Using liquid unscented antibacterial soap (use a pea sized amount in your hand) add water to it and lather it up apply it to the piercing and work it into the piercing by moving the jewellery back and forth or rotating the ring if the piercing has a ring in it. Then under warm running water (the shower is the best place to do this) again rotate the jewellery while rinsing the piercing with the water. Do this daily (twice a day for the first two days) for about a week. Within the first 24 ~ 48 hours you will see the infection start to clear. After a week you can just rinse the piercing daily (you don't need to use soap every day once every five days should be plenty) under warm running water while moving the jewellery and the piercing should remain healthy and happy.

Can i use neosporin on my recent ear piercing?

I would recommend you don't use Neosporin, Polysporin or anything like that on a ear piercing. Soap and water will do just fine. These products are not to be used on puncture wounds (read the tube). If the piercing is infected washing with diluted antibacterial soap and irrigating with water twice a day will make a big difference in about 24 to 48 hours.

Can you use anti-bacterial soap to clean your naval piercing?

Yes you can, check therelated links below this answer for more detailed aftercare information. When using antibacterial soap be sure you use the liquid soap and dilute it with water as you lather it up, we want a nice runny lather so it is easier to rinse out of the piercing. Allow it to stay on the piercing and jewellery for a few moments then rinse the piercing with lots of running water while moving the jewellery to rinse the soap out of the piercing. This has been used by my clients with great success over the last 15 years with no issues. Happy Piercings

How do you treat a daith piercing infection?

Soap and water washing followed by a good flushing with warm running water in the shower should turn your daith piercing infection around in about 24 to 48 hours. This should be done twice a day for the next couple of days. Do not use any cleaning agents or solutions on the piercing other than the soap and water followed by the rinse.

A nose piercing hurts more when piercing it than after it is done. The pain generally lasts a few seconds and if done by a professional it hurts less because they use quality needles.
