Leave a bucket of pool water out in the sun for 2 days, the chlorine will dissipate and the water will be suitable for the garden. This method will not work for salt water pools. I wouldn't recommend using pool water to water plants at all just use a hose that way you can be sure not to kill your plants. If there is some reason you want to use pool water here is how you do it. Pool water contains chlorine which will kill plants if there is too much of it in the water. Chlorine will break down after awhile but that will take a time. You could poor some in a drum or large bucket and leave it open in the sun but you'll lose a lot of water from evaporation. If your not going to use your pool for a long time you could let it sit without adding chlorine but the water will get alga and other stuff in it like mosquito larva. If you have a chlorine tester you can test to see how much chlorine is in the water you want use. The chlorine level should be very little to none or it will kill your garden. If you don't have a tester you can try smelling the water in your hand to see if it smells like chlorine. You could test the water on some weeds wait a day to see if it harmed them.

Depends. If you mean a kiddie pool that you filled from the hose, sure. If you mean a regular swimming pool, probably not. Chlorine is added to that water to prevent growth of unhealthy organisms, and your plants will not like the chlorine.

Uncover it, remove gizmos from skimmers, put the skimmer baskets in, remove jets covers, put the jets in, turn on pump, check filter,

vacuum it if necessary, shock, it, check the little water testing strips and adjust as necessary.

What type of water contains chlorine?

Any water which has had chlorine added to it. Swimming pools don't go out and buy chlorinated water from someone who has a lake full of the stuff, or anything like that. They use tap water, and add some chlorine. +++ Mains supply water is filtered then chlorinated at the treatment works, but to only about 2ppm. Swimming-pools work at 2 - 4ppm so more chlorine-donor is added to the pool.

When you drain an above-ground pool can you safely use the water to water your moisture-starved landscape?

Normal chroline level in pool water is nothing more than tap water out of the faucet. As long as the pool water tests normal when testing with your pool test kit, you can let your grass enjoy the water. I do it all the time when draining rain water off my above the ground pool. I put a pump in the pool and run a garden hose to the sprinkler. The grass does well.

What are the major benefits of salt water pools over chlorinated ones if you suffer from psoriasis and research suggests that it would be better to have a salt water pool?

For one reason, saltwater pools use a special salt to keep your pool clean without the irritating burn of chlorinated pool water that you accidentally get in your eyes sometimes. Another reason is that the water does not give off a horrid strong smell like chlorine. Salt water pools are chlorine pool the difference is that the salt in the pool is electronically treated to release chlorine. Traditionally sodium chloride Common salt is used in salt water pools. However a less environmentally harmful alternative is now becoming available in magnesium chloride/sodium chloride which feels even better to skinn in and is good for the surrounding plants. You don't have to wear goggle's because it is chlorene free!
