Locals channels are controlled by the zip code. The FCC, through the zip code designates which local channels a subscriber receives. You can get most times CBS, FOX, NBC, ABC, and PBS stations. You can go to our website and input LOCAL CHANNELS in the search box in the upper right hand corner of the page. Select "Local HD Channels & Satellite TV - DISH Network". Fill in the information on the next page and you can see the local channels available in your area.
Switching channels would depend on several things. If you get your channels from a cable company, you probably can not switch them. Depending on where you are located, a dish or satellite system might be able to switch them. If you are getting your channels "off air" such as through a TV antenna, then it would depend on where you are located and how close you are to a TV tower that supplies the TV station's signal.
If you mean take the signal from the TV aerial and broadcast it over the internet - is IS possible BUT completely ILLEGAL !
They will not work anymore. The law was passed last year that all channels with be delivered through digital cable only. You can go to your local cable company and they will supply you with a cable box if you want to receive the few free channels. I don believe there is a price to purchase the cable boxes though.
The only difference is where the signal for the channels comes from. Also digital cable tends to offer more pay per view movies and more local channels. Other than that, there really is no difference between the two.
Yes. The only time you need a phone line to get broadband Internet is if you choose DSL. You may want to look into cable Internet through your local cable company. If you can not get cable Internet in your area, you can get satellite Internet connections through companies such as WildBlue (ViaSat), or HughesNet. Satellite Internet is available anywhere. The only factor that would stop you from getting it is if there are trees DIRECTLY blocking the signal path, which is uncommon. I hope this helps! :)
