you can write anything in first person even a poem just be creative and let your imagination fly
First person is written as if the narrator were speaking directly to the reader, using pronouns such as "I." You can certainly write a short story from this viewpoint if you wish.
To write in first person, use pronouns such as "I," "me," and "my" to describe the experiences, thoughts, and feelings of the narrator. By adopting the perspective of a character as if they are the one directly telling the story, you can create a personal and engaging narrative.
There is no cut and dry answer to this. You have to be a good story teller, have a good story and plot idea, and have the writing skills necessary to tell that story. In terms of connecting to the reader when writing a first person story, it's important that the reader can somewhat identify to the main character. If your main character is a whiny, annoying or unrealistic person, it will be hard for readers to want to listen to that characters narration for 200-400 pages. We have to be swept away into your world and want to go along with the character on their journey as they overcome their troubles and pitfalls and reach ultimate success and happiness.
As I always say, the best advice for writers is... to write!
Good luck :)
An author usually uses pronouns such as "I" or "me" when writing in the first person. Re-read sections of the text to see if the author tends to relflect upon themself, or if they tend to reflect upon the character they are writing first person in. Turn-off words for the first person when reading text can sometimes be "he" or "she". Also look out for if the author uses character names, as these are most usually used in second person, and especially third.

You just pretend you're telling your friends all about it and write what you'd say. First person is the one that uses "I" instead of "he" or "she."
