Your brain floats in sea of cerebrospinal fluid inside your skull. This fluid circulates in your spine eventually exits via the venous system. The new csf is manufactured in the ventricles of the brain.
CSF is pretty much just water, slippery molecules, and nutrients. If the level of csf falls because you are dehydrated, then your brain will rest directly on the bottom of your skull and start to bruise. That is a headache.
