There is one common cheat, but it involves your town being flooded to the maximum with weeds. If you do not want to pick a whole town full of weeds, then do not follow the following cheat:

Place ten to twenty thousand bells in the bank (or more), and save your game. Then, change the time settings to ten years in the future (this is known as 'time traveling'), and when you go to the bank, your interest should pile up to where you can pay off a good portion of your mortgage, if not all of it.

There is a cheat where if you set the date right on your ds you can get 10,000 cash from a present from your mom on the game! all you do is go to your settings on the ds and make the date january1st and make the year the lowest year number it can go ! then start Animal Crossing and youll see it once you go to your mailbox! then everytime you want to play that game just set the date to January 1st and make the year one more each time and continue checking your mailbox! then youll have enough cash to pay for all your morgages! but be wearned that this cheat will make your game have weeds everywhere on the ground that you can only get off by picking up or digging but its totttaly worth it for all the cash you bring in
