The VW Passat cigarette lighter fuse can be found in the fuse box. The location of the fuse will be listed on the inside cover of the fuse box.

Remove the retaining ring at the top of your 2002 VW cigarette lighter. The cigarette lighter will slide out. Remove the wiring harness from the back of the cigarette lighter. Reverse the process to install a new cigarette lighter.

On the 2004 passat its a 15amp fuse, location 33 Cutaboy Here... On the 06 passat ... go to the passenger frontside (shotgun) use a screw driver to pull out the panel ... look for location 35 ... the fuse is (20) ... got this from the manual after reading everyones answers ... had to figure it out myself ... tested it ... worked perfectly ... I have an 2006 Passat and in my case there was no fuse on slot 35. I had to check every single fuse to determine which one was broken. After some time and lots of patience I found a 15 amp fuse that was broken... replaced it with a a 20 amp fuse and its all good. Now I can charge my phone. In my 2006 Passat 2.0T, the cigarette lighter fuse is in #43. That is the last but one row of the LEFT side instrument fuse box (fuse box A). I got the 11/2005 edition of Technical and Modifications manual. It says the cigarette lighter fuse is #35 in the right side instrument fuse box. This is an error.

Do the following...Go to Right Hand Side (Drivers side - UK).... Take off panel as indicated in the manual - ignore manual from now on. Replace 15amp fuse (blue) middle of bottom row - I have a 2008 Passat and i found the lighter fuse in the fuse box on the drivers side. It was in the middle of the bottom row, 20 amp. There were only 3 fuses in this row on my car.I have a 2007 Passat and my fuse was in the same slot as described above (#41) but a 15 amp fuse. According the owner's manual it should be 20 amps.

I cannot seem to find the fuse location for my cigarette lighter the manuel states under the hood.

The answer I think is a circle with an A in it

Try changing fuse #33 in the fuse box. The fuse box is located on the side of the dashboard on the driver's side. The fuse box cover is a big "B" shaped piece of plastic. On my 2006 passat it was on the drivers side #38 15a. Manual was incorrect. This fuse powers both front and rear plugins.

We have the same problem. Can't find the fuse. ANSWER!!! The fuse is a yellow 20A fuse. I Found it by removing the console under the steering wheel, 4 screws, it is on the upper right side of the secondary fuse board.... You can see these fuses and relays when you look in from the standard fuse board. It's an asy job when you know how! Sgtarms: You will also find the trunk auxiliary cigarette lighter socket fuse on the same secondary fuse panel on the LOWER RIGHT corner. My deepest thanks to the German engineers who in their infinite wisdom fail to mention the SECONDARY FUSE PANEL even ONCE in 200 pages of VW owner's manuals!

User Avatar

your guess would be as good as mine...i have pulled and replaced every fuse in the box as well as the ones behind the dash...i even bought 2 different lighter housing assemblies and guess what nothing :(

There is not a temperature fuse it has a coolant temperature sensor at the back of the cylinder head

there is a fuse for it check to see if it is blown

This fuse is located in the dash fuse box. Upper fuse box, top row, 3rd from the left, a blue 15 amp fuse. On the recent models of the VW Transporter TDI Diesel for example, the Fuse is 3 from the right hand end. Same row, same box, same colour/rating.
