well in the colonial days a man named Vitus Bering, finder of Alaska, was trying to find a formal settlement for the Russians. i am saying Russians because it was Russians who first had the land of Alaska. the a few years later somewhere in the 1900s a man named Seward bought Alaska using the nations money, the nation is the US. he bought it for 7.2 million dollars. many people were upset that he used the nations money but then people found gold and oil there. then people started building colonies and villages there since people needed food when the were mining for gold or strucking oil. and that is how Alaska became what is now called a state. well Alaska became a state in 1959 so it wasn't that long ago. hope this answers some of you questions.

Colonial Days was the period that Russia was the dominant power and it included numerous wild forays with the Native Americans.

Territorial Days began in 1867 with a military government in place and often absent in every way. Alaska received official status as a territory in 1912. The 1890's would have been the years of Frontier (anything goes) Alaska with no rules and regulations, and no one to answer to except Vigilante Justice.
