The Arizona walnut (Juglans major) is generally described as a Perennial Tree. This Dicot (dicotyledon) is native to the U.S. (United States) and has its most active growth period in the Spring and Summer . The Arizona Walnut has Yellow-Green foliage and inconspicuous Brown flowers, with inconspicuous Brown fruits or seeds. The greatest bloom is usually observed in the Late Spring, with fruit and seed production starting in the Fall and continuing until Winter. Leaves are not retained year to year. The Arizona Walnut has a Long life span relative to most other plant species and a Slow growth rate. At maturity, the typical Arizona Walnut will reach up to 50 feet high, with a maximum height at 20 years of 50 feet. The Arizona Walnut is usually not commercially available except under contract. It can be propagated by Bare Root, Container, Cuttings and Seed. It has a Slow ability to spread through seed production and the seedlings have Medium vigor. Note that cold stratification is not required for seed germination and the plant cannot survive exposure to temperatures below -33°F.
