2 ways alike:
both photosynthesis and respiration occur in organelles of plant cells.
both involve the flow of electrons through the cell membrane in order to harvest energy.
2 ways they are different:
Respiration produces energy, where as Photosynthesis requires energy
Photosynthesis takes place in chloroplasts, respiration takes place in mitochondria

Aerobic REspiration':: Uses oxygen
Occurs in cytoplasm and mitochondria
carbon dioxide and water are produced
Anearobic Respiration: Does not use oxygen
Occurs in cytoplasm only
Lactic acid is produced in animals and ethanol in plants (water is never an end product here)
both processes occur in living things.
respiration occurs 24hrs while photosynthesis occur during the day.
photosynthsis uses sunlight while respiration does not.
respiration uses oxygen and glucose,while these are products of photosynthesis.
Photosynthesis and aerobic respiration are both processes using gases. Photosynthesis uses carbon dioxide to produce oxygen and aerobic respiration takes in oxygen and produces carbon dioxide.
5 Similarities
1) Both involve electron transport chains.
2) Chemiomosis allows ATP synthase to produce ATP.
3) Both take place at some point within an organelle (mit. = CR, chloroplast= photo.)
4) Both utilize ATP for energy at some points.
5) Both provide power for cellular activities.
5 Differences
1)Cellular respiration depends on oxygen as a substrate.
2)Photosythesis utilizes 2 electron transport chains (not just 1).
3)In Photo. , energy is provided by photons and not catabolic processes as in cell. resp.
4)Photosynthesis involves the production of NADPH (CR involves NADH and FADH2)
5)Photosynthesis involves CO2 and H20 as substrates (splitting h20 provides the electrons for the process).
aerobic = oxygen = more efficient (more ATP)
anaerobic = no oxygen = less efficient (less ATP)
aerobic = cellular respiration
anaerobic = fermentation
well ask yourself what does diffusion mean and compare it to cellular respiration and photosynthesis
they are they same. the products of photosynthesis are oxygen and glucose and the reactants of cellular respiration are gluose and oxygen.
To compare the equations for respiration an photosynthesis, you must first see what the equations are. Respiration- sugar + oxygen = carbon dioxide + water + engergy photosynthesis- carbon dioxide + water = light energy = sugar+ oxygen The difference between these two equations are, they seem to be backwards from each other. So they are flipped around, see how respiration starts with sugar +oxygen and ends with carbon dioxide + water, but photosynthesis is the exact oposite. What is the same about the two is they have the same "ingredients". :) I hope this helped you to understand photosynthesis and respiration better. :) look below for the last answer that i improved by a lot. :) idk, how i am i sposed to no this, i learned this in scince class lst year.;(
Right here, just visualize the circles: Photosynthesis: * Only in plants and some bacteria * Occurs in chloroplasts * Reactants: CO2, H2O & Light Energy * Products: O2 & Glucose Similarities: * Both involve O2, H2O, CO2, H2O, Glucose & energy * Both are REDOX reactions Respiration: * In both plants and animals * Occurs in the mitochondria * Reactants: O2 & Glucose * Products: CO2, H2O & Energy
Aerobic respiration uses oxygen to produce a large number of ATP molecules, which are used in the cell as energy. Anaerobic respiration used an electron transport chain without oxygen, produces lactic acid, and produces very little ATP and, as such, very little energy.

they are they same. the products of photosynthesis are oxygen and glucose and the reactants of cellular respiration are gluose and oxygen.
They are basically reverse reactions of the other. Photosynthesis H2O + CO2 + Energy (light) --> Sugar + O2 Cellular Respiration Sugar + O2 --> H2O + CO2 + Energy (ATP)
photosynthesis and respiration are linked because they both involve the exchange of the gases; oxygen and carbon dioxide.
they both create something in the end the person before me had this stupid answer. look up:0
The equation for cellular respiration is C6H12O6 + 6O2 --> 6CO2 + 6H2O + energy. The equation for photosynthesis is 6H2O + 6CO2 + Light Energy -> C6H12O6 + 6O2. Cellular respiration does not require light energy, and photosynthesis does.
Photosynthesis: 6CO2 + 6H2O + light energy --> 6C6H12O6 + 6O2 Cellular respiration: 6C6H12O6 + 6O2 --> 6CO2 + 6H2O + 34ATP These processes are the reverse of each other with the net being light energy yielding ATP. Although it is not this simple, it shows that the energy from light ultimately ends up as the chemical energy in cells.
Photosynthesis is the process of converting light energy to chemical energy and storing it in the bonds of sugar. Cellular respiration is the process in which an organism breaks down fuel to capture energy in a usable form (ATP). So, the two processes cannot really be compared with respect to energy storage. Photosynthesis is an anabolic process (synthesis of glucose) while respiration is the catabolism of glucose to release the chemical bond energy of the glucose into an usable form (ATP).

the mitochondria is the vital activities of the cell while plastids are manufacture in food photosynthesis.
