Menu Bar - it allows you to access various commands, which are grouped according to function.

Standard Toolbar - it displays buttons that can be selected to perform common editing tasks.

Formatting Toolbar - it is used to select character and paragraph formatting command.

Ruler - it controls margins, indents and tab stop.

Insertion Point/Cursor - it is the location where the typed text appears, and where certain editing action occurs.

Status Bar - it displays information about a document.

Horizontal and Vertical Scroll Bar - it scroll the paper vertically and horizontally.

Next/Previous Page - it displays the pages of a certain document.

Quick Acess Toolbar- allows you to add frequently used commands

Office Button contains a drop down menu with options, such as: open, save, and print

Tab-the ribbon is broken into 7 tabs. Examples: Home, Insert, Page Layout

Ribbon the strip of buttons and icons located above the work area

Rulers gives you an idea of wehre you are on the page. (vertical and horizontal rulers)

Group command with a common purpose.

Ex: font, paragraph, style, editing

Insertion point- The blinking vertical line taht shows where the next character will appear when you type in a document

Document Window- what you are typing/what will print out

Status Bar- When right-clicking desired options may include:

page number, number of total pages, word count, etc.

I-Beam Pointer- the pointer used to move the insertion point and select text

View Buttons buttons on the status bar that are used to change document views.

Zoom Slide- Allows you to increase/decrease the amount of document you see on the screen

Scroll Bars- Allows you to view the entire document by moving it up or down, left or right

View Ruler Button- Allows you to view/hide the ruler

Help Button- A button used to access the Word Help system
