I would check and see if it were a heating issue, make sure your CPU fan is running and that the heatsink is free of dust. Other than that, i'd check the system log and see if it reports any problems. Could also be caused by a bad power supply, if you have another one you could try switching that and see if it helps.
Using windows media player instead will not slow your computer down
you can do it using windows task manager.
windows xp allows you to customize the gui for each computer user by using:
Click start, then right-click on "My Computer" and select "Properties". It should be under "Windows edition".
There really is no benefit in using or having Windows Vista on your personal or business computer.
