Ralph says "Like icing, on a pink cake." In reference to seeing white sea birds nesting on a pink block of rock, which was 'sitting out in the lagoon.' This occured when Ralph went on an expedition to climb the mountain with Jack and Simon in chapter 1: The Sound of the Shell. The reference is near the bottom of page 27 in my edition of the book.
One of the most iconic and memorable parts of "Lord of the Flies" is when the fire gets out of control and leads to a devastating loss. This event marks a turning point for the characters and sets the stage for the escalating conflict and descent into savagery on the island.
In the final chapter of The Lord of the Flies, the boys are chasing Ralph with sharpened wooden spears and within seconds of catching him, when they are rescued by a British naval officer.
