How was religion taught in school?

Religion was never taught in school (if you mean public school). The pledge of allegiance was said at the beginning of the school day (having the term God in it), and you might have noticed the 10 commandments posted on the wall in one of your classrooms, but in general, religion was never a course that one could take for academic credit.

How do you become more social in high school if you used to be but stopped when you moved schools?

You could join a school organization or two to get to know other people your age with similar interests. If you were in band or choir at your previous school, you could join the band or choir at your new school. If you played a sport before moving, you could talk to your new school's coach about playing at your new school. If you have an interest in religion, you could try to find a church in your school's area that has an active youth group. Chances are many of those kids would also go to your new school. Fortunately, it's very early in the new school year, so hopefully you can start getting involved along with everyone else.
