The kidney is used to 'clean' the blood. You could get on ok without one for a few days but then your health would go downhill as the toxins in your blood build up. It's possible, but you would have to go through a process of dialysis every few days for the rest of your life, where a machine has to clean the blood for you.

People without functioning kidneys need dialysis to live. The kidneys filter the blood and then selected solutes are reabsorbed which controls blood volume. The compounds that are not reabsorbed (excreted) are usually the products of metabolism or compounds from food that have been detoxified in the liver.

The human body would not be able to function (or work) without the kidney. This is because the kidney filters out all of the nasty liquids that we don't need in our body. The liquid that comes out is called urine (or as we call it, pee). The urine contains of water, salts, but takes out the blood and other things that I don't even know about.

There are many question to be asked about the urinary system, but what I do know is that the human body, without its kidneys, would not end well because we need them to filter out the blood or we would lose it all.

However there are kidney transplants and also dialysis treatments for those without functioning kidneys.
